Letters from Your Yoga Mat v.2
Hi Yogi!
Summer is here and it is amazing! There are so many summer activities and the desire to live summer to the fullest extent and sometimes we forget to slow down and enjoy the small moments. Have you ever gotten so excited about something that you whip through your home tripping over things, bumping into things, or dropping things because you are moving so quickly? I see your excitement and your love for life and I celebrate it with you but summer is a great time to slow down, even if just to survive the heat.
I see you, coming to the mat and rushing through the flow, or forcing into alignment because you are excited to get outside and I wanted to remind you that you have permission to Slow Down! I know, I know, it is an exciting summer out there and the days have been amazingly beautiful. It stirs something inside of us to 'get going!' and we just want to live every moment in that beautiful sunshine while it lasts. I invite you to take this desire, this fire, this light and bring it to your practice. Bring this fire to your practice to focus your attention inward and move from a place that feels free - that feels good - that is mindful and gently paced.
Did you know that one of the reasons why the Galapagos Tortoise lives for so long is because of their breath? Their inhales are about 3 minutes long and their exhales are about 5 minutes long. They are the definition of chill. Be like the Galapagos Tortoise when you're practicing and cultivate balance, whatever that means, looks like or feels to you. Remember that I've got your back, I am here to help ground you and help you slow down.
